DOGE looked like it was going to make some meaningful cuts, and at least stop some fraud. Why do you think it failed and will anything like that be attempted again?

Federal spending isn’t like a CEO who can cut 20% of expenses overnight. A lot of the expenses are structural (i.e., mandatory spending), governed by laws, and politicians often have vested interests in keeping them. It did cut some federal building leases, consulting contracts, and certain agencies - but in relation to the high fixed costs (i.e., social security, etc.), it didn’t really move the dial, albeit it did provide some savings. A common term often used is “pork” spending - that “pork” tends to benefit someone who likes to keep it going.
